Visit WBAI 95.5 NYC Live Stream page to listen to AfrobeatRadio program.

This week AfrobeatRadio will address the political and security implications for Africa and specifically Nigeria. The panel will consist of African journalists which will include Ajibola Amzat, Correspondent with The Guardian, a Nigerian newspaper, in a telephone analysis live from Nigeria. This is an important issue which requires a comprehensive strategic review of the operations of U.S. Intelligence Agencies, its ongoing and broadening operations inside the African continent in its “war against Terrorism.”

As the U.S. commits to protecting Americans worldwide, at what cost will it be to Africans at home and abroad? How can effective joint planning as well as assurances that the operations of those countries (in this instance-The U.S.) conducting the operations are acting in accordance with international humanitarian law? These questions and more will be presented, along with suggestions and ways to find solutions from a continental African perspective. WBAI phone lines during AfrobeatRadio program, will be open for listener comments/questions. All opinions welcome!

This is a continental African initiative in an attempt at constructive dialogue, to encourage examination of the issues while offering an opportunity for a more responsible and constructive media role. We in Africa, having fought long and hard for our independence and to build a continent in which we see great hope and a bright future cannot now be sent back into those days of western hegemony.

I was interested in today’s program view from two perspectives: what common Americans can do to increase security of their country and what common Nigerians can do to prove they are not terrorists. The answer is: absolutely nothing on their own without ongoing inter-communication. Expressing opinions seems to be the fastest way nowadays to “get involved”; but, in reality, it takes sweat, blood and tears to aid the grassroots democracy, social justice, ecological wisdom, nonviolence, decentralization, community-based economics, gender equality, respect for diversity, personal and global responsibility. All that must start with communication over all possible divides. So thank you, AR, for doing it.
